Blended learning occurs when teachers use a combination of face-to-face best practices and digital lessons. In my classroom, I often use my original videos for students that need to review or preview a skill. These videos can be viewed at home or in class and typically go along with an independent assignment where the student can then apply the skill he or she has watched. These videos are helpful for students because they can be paused and re-played for students so they can learn at their own pace. Below are a few of my Youtube videos that highlight different fourth grade standards

Exploring Angles: Acute, Right, and Obtuse

Lines: Perpendicular, Parallel, and Intersecting

The video above highlights how to do the Lattice Method for multi-digit multiplication. This video corresponds with the Virginia Department of Education Standards of Learning 4.4 A (multiply whole numbers). I teach my students a variety of strategies to multiply and this is one of those strategies and usually a fan favorite!

Above is a video that teaches students how to round multi-digit numbers. This video corresponds with the Virginia Department of Education Standards of Learning 4.1 C (round whole numbers expressed through millions to the nearest thousand, ten thousand, and hundred thousand). This video is helpful for students in my class because I model several examples and use the vocabulary explicitly.

The Exploring Angles video reviews acute, right, and obtuse angles. This video correlates with the Virginia Department of Education Standards of Learning 4.10 A (identify and describe representations of angles). This video is helpful for students because the use of different pen colors in each example serves as a beneficial visual aid.

Lines can be seen in our everyday life, which is shown in the video above. This video correlates with the Virginia Department of Education Standards of Learning 4.10 B (identify representations of lines that illustrate intersection, parallelism, and perpendicularity). Seeing real world examples of lines aids students in making connections between their background knowledge and geometry terms.
